IP technology of Icecom informs the citizens of Mikkeli about the road maintenance and the snow clearance The citizens of Mikkeli do not have to wait on the phone when they need information about the maintenance and the snow clearance of the roads in the region. They will get this information directly from the service number that the city of Mikkeli offers for them. "This helps my work enormously", says Osmo Nikka, the Head of the Road maintenance in the city of Mikkeli. He continues: "With the new service I can call out all the maintenance equipment at the same time and get them quickly on the road. The technology for this service is offered by Icecom and it is delivered to end customer, city of Mikkeli through Mikkelin Puhelin, which is a local telecommunication operator in Finland. Icecom also takes care of the technology support for the end customer. "The service was introduced at the beginning of April. The employees of the city are pleased with the new technology which makes their work much easier", explains Timo Selenius, Technology planner in Mikkelin Puhelin. "In the future the information service can be easily extended to include the other sectors of the city as well such as healthcare and leisure services", Timo Selenius reveals. "The users of the service need a tool which facilitates their work", states Teemu Haapala, Vice president of Icecom and continues, "that is the reason why Icecom focus on the ease of use of its solutions.
