Icecom will launch an innovative VoIP infrastructure for communication markets – the new Chief Technology Officer is leading Icecom towards the expansive marketsIcecom will launch a new VoIP infrastructure, which is aimed at operators, ISPs and other companies that would like to enhance their product portfolio with VoIP communication services. The Operator Service Environment provides full-featured voice over IP communication services with the possibility of accessing a legacy Public Switched Telephony Network (PSTN) via Media Gateways. Operator environment enables for example ISPs to integrate operator level services into their current service portfolio and thus, offer more comprehensive communication solutions for their customers. Operator Service Environment includes e.g. centralized subscriber management, management of billing and open integration interfaces. The system supports both hosted business model and dedicated solutions for corporate customers. The VoIP services are targeted to both residential and business users. New operator environment combined to Icecom’s product portfolio enables service provider to offer bundled communication solutions for its customers. Icecom’s web-based SwitchBoard software and IP communication portal can be flexibly integrated into the infrastructure. As the new CTO of Icecom, Kim Jakobsson is responsible for the technological development of the company. He is directing the company towards to expansive VoIP markets in which he sees enormous demand for new innovative technology providers. Jakobsson has extensive experience in telecoms operator field and he has previously worked as Development Manager for Nordic telecom operator TDC Song, being responsible e.g. for developing the VoIP services of broadband operators and implementation of TDC Song’s Skype services in Nordic countries. Jakobsson sees that “Skype boom”, at the latest, shows the new development that is shaping the communication market. ”The quality and versatility of the services are even more important in the future, not the price per minute like it used to be. Minute based billing is soon history and people want to pay fixed monthly rates for extensive and well operating communication services. The IP-based technologies are soon coming to mobile phones as well”, says Jakobsson and adds, “the technological solutions of Icecom can be applied in various terminal devices including PC:s, telephones as well as mobile devices.
